You’re eating dinner with your family one evening when you hear a knock. You swing open the front door to find a group of five masked and armed Islamic States soldiers who demand to know if you are a follower of Jesus.
There’s no getting around it. We are in a spiritual war. We aren’t in a war with people, although that happens. The battle is with our scheming, vile, enemy—the devil.
Friend, all of us have been “marred” in one way or another, and none of us are even close to being perfect, but God can pick up the broken pieces, fix the cracks, mold us, and shape us into something that will please Him.
I wonder, how long has it been since some of us have taken the time from our busy schedules to count our blessings, look at the good, and ponder God’s greatness? While David sat in his house, thinking on God and His goodness, I can imagine him “swelling up” and even getting a little emotional.
In addition, the church has been dealing with issues of political correctness and which things or lifestyles are really sin. All of these are important issues in Christianity. However, our understanding and personal preferences about them can cause debates and quarreling which only leads to further division.
